THE VICTIMS.... Who are we? Where are we?

CITIES? SUBBURBS? RURAL AREAS?

Victims have been found in all areas, in all 50 states of the United States; including the Capital, Washington D.C. The popurlaty and awareness of this trade has increased immensly throughout the years

The victims of human trafficking do not carry a common trait. They vary from men or woman, adults or infants, and  foreign nationals or U.S. citizens. Typically the target person in human trafficking is the most vulnerable. The desperate and uneducated are perfect prey for the the trafficker. Normally these people who are considered the prey are looking to better their own lives, lacking empoylement oppurtunities, have unstable homelives, or have a history of sexual abuse (all of these conditions are not uncommon with today's society). Some victims are hidden behind locked doors in brothels, houses, or factories but others are in plain view during all parts of the day. They might interect with the community members due to the lack of awareness they are unrecognizable by first glance. Unfortunately most victims are just clasified as "willing" participants in the sex trade who make the free choice of being there each day. Money is being made each and everyday, but in all reality buying a human is the same price as buying a pair of Nike’s new on the market. The average rate of a person globally is $90 for either a man or women depending on the trafficker. Almost twenty to thirty million slaves are being trafficked around the world today. When between 14,500 and 17,500 of those slaves are being trafficked into the United States. 70% of the patrons trafficked today are classified as woman, either over the age of 18 or under.
